The Story
The highlights from this video
As the temperatures drop in Dallas, the last thing you want is your furnace to fail when you need it most. Homeowners often overlook a critical component during their fall tune-up: the flame sensor. This tiny device is essential for ensuring your furnace runs safely and efficiently. If it's not working properly, you could be facing a significant heating issue when you least expect it.
During our fall maintenance check, we opened up the furnace to inspect the inner workings. It’s a straightforward process, but it’s crucial. We brushed out any dust and debris, and we paid special attention to the wire connections, making sure everything was secure. After turning off the power for safety, we focused on the flame sensor, a key player in keeping your home safe by detecting whether the flame is present.
Cleaning the flame sensor is a simple yet effective task that can save homeowners from expensive repairs. Using a dollar bill, we gently scrubbed the sensor to remove any buildup that could interfere with its function. With a clean flame sensor, your furnace can operate smoothly, preventing unnecessary gas leaks and ensuring that your home remains warm all winter long. Don't wait until the cold hits—schedule your fall tune-up today!
Now we can actually start opening things and seeing what's going on inside. So even though there's not a lot in here I'm still gonna brush it out spend a little time feeling all the wire connections making sure all the wire nuts are tight Let's turn the power off to it before I fire the unit off I'll do a couple of things before everything gets real hot So the first thing I'll do is I'm gonna clean the flame sensor The flame sensor is a safety device that quite literally senses the flame when the furnace is running It needs to know that there's a flame so that it doesn't just spit out raw gas if the flame sensor isn't working It'll just shut down I usually just take a bill a dollar bill of some kind and I find this part here His shirt I use that part because it's just a little bit grittier right there on the bill go over that whole thing like this
