Winter Maintenance for your HVAC system

Texas Medley here with Medley Heating and Air Conditioning. We've got cold weather coming this week and wanted to offer you a few reminders. First, most homes in DFW have water spigots on the outside walls or on the ground. Make sure you insulate them with some inexpensive covers. These can be purchased at the local hardware store or online. But plan ahead because they sell out quickly when it freezes. Second, keep a slow trickle of water flowing through the faucets around the house. This keeps water flowing through your pipes and prevents it from freezing. Third, keep cabinet doors open to allow warm air to circulate around pipes, particularly in bathrooms and in the kitchen. Fourth, if you have a fireplace, keep the flue damper closed when not in use. Hot air rises, so don't let it out. And finally, have us out to inspect your heater or furnace. We can make sure that your unit is ready to keep you cozy and safe for the cold weather to come.
