The Story
The highlights from this video
Did you know that over time, your plumbing can develop issues that resemble a miniature Grand Canyon underneath your home? Just like the mighty Colorado River shaped its landscape, years of water flow can erode cast iron pipes, causing them to lose their integrity. For Dallas homeowners, this means potential plumbing disasters lurking beneath your feet.
Cast iron pipes, while once a standard choice, are not built to last forever. As they age, they become susceptible to breakages and blockages, leading to frustrating plumbing problems like slow drains and frequent clogs. If you’re not experiencing any stoppages, you might think you’re in the clear. But remember the old saying: 'If it’s not broken, don’t fix it.' However, if you find yourself dealing with recurring issues, it’s time to consider a replacement.
The good news? Modern solutions like PVC piping are far superior to cast iron. Not only do they resist corrosion and breakage, but they also provide a longer-lasting, more reliable plumbing system. At Medley Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing, we prioritize your home’s integrity and ensure you’re equipped with the best materials for your plumbing needs. Don’t let your pipes turn into a Grand Canyon—reach out to us today and safeguard your home!
And what kind of things normally cause breakages in the pipes under the house? Water created the Grand Canyon, right? Over time, it creates valleys in your cast iron system. Just use of water over so many decades, of course, it's going to mess with the integrity of the pipe. It's just going to break it naturally over time. Cast iron is not meant to last forever. I think I told you I have cast iron in my house. It's definitely one of those lingering thoughts I have. When's that day going to come? Texas, if you're not having any stoppages, you should be okay. Don't fix it if it's not broken, right? That old adage. I love telling people that it's when you were just having these problems that are just happening again and again. Things aren't flushing, things aren't draining. Then we have to be looking at replacement options. So PVC is superior? Absolutely. We don't go back with cast iron anymore in residential homes. Yeah, it just lasts much longer than cast iron would.
