The Story
The highlights from this video
Imagine waking up to a rainy ceiling on Christmas morning — that’s exactly what happened to one Dallas family when their flood stop began beeping. Initially, they thought it was a water heater malfunction, but it turned out to be a long-standing roof leak. This situation highlights a crucial issue for homeowners: unnoticed leaks can lead to massive water damage and costly repairs.
The family had been experiencing the effects of the leak for some time without realizing it. Flood stop sensors are designed to detect such issues, and thankfully, this time it alerted them before things got out of hand. As any homeowner knows, water damage is not just a minor inconvenience; it can lead to mold growth and structural damage, especially in homes with multiple water heaters tucked away in attics.
At Medley Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing, we always recommend installing an automatic flood stop sensor on any water heater that isn’t located in the garage. This small investment can save you from a potential disaster, turning a simple leak into a swimming pool in your living room. Protect your home and your peace of mind by ensuring you have the right flood protection in place.
The day before Christmas, we got a call. Their flood stop was beeping and causing them some issues. They thought something was wrong with the water heater and it was a roof leak. The flood stops are so sensitive. That had been happening for quite a long time, the roof leak. The flood stop sensor actually detected it this time. This has been leaking for a long time and no one knew it. Until it would have been a huge problem. Until it would have been a huge problem. I think about that any time I go in an attic and I see two or three water heaters in an attic over the home, I think, God, that's 150 gallons of water just waiting to come down on the house. I go in these multi-million dollar homes all the time. A lot of times, there's no flood protection on there. So even if it does bust, it's going to keep filling up. Absolutely. It'll keep filling up. You're losing much more than just 50 gallons of water. Say you're not home, you come home to a swimming pool in your house. Always recommend putting in at least an automatic flood stop sensor on any water heaters that aren't in the garage.
