Fall Tune Up Part 7 – The Furnace Workhorse 💪
The Story
The highlights from this video
As the temperatures in Dallas begin to drop, many homeowners switch on their furnaces for the first time in months, only to wonder if their heating system is ready to handle the chill. One homeowner recently faced this very dilemma and called Medley Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing for a fall tune-up, hoping for peace of mind before the cold weather fully set in.
Upon inspection, our technician started with the blower motor, noting it was slightly dirty and had some build-up likely caused by recent sheetrock work. "It's a little dirty. It could probably stand to be cleaned actually," he observed. This is a common issue that can arise when dust and debris accumulate, but the real concern is what happens if it goes unchecked. As the blower motor struggles with extra weight, it works harder, leading to increased energy bills and potential breakdowns.
The technician explained, "If that gets out of hand, the wheel gets heavy, the motor works harder, the equipment doesn’t like it." It’s crucial for homeowners to understand that ignoring this build-up could lead to major HVAC headaches down the line. A simple cleaning now could prevent more significant repairs later, saving both time and money.
To address the issue, we recommended a thorough deep cleaning of the blower motor. "We'll give them an option for pulling the motor out, deep cleaning it, and putting it back in because if that gets out of hand, it could really impact the system’s efficiency," he added. This preventative measure ensures that the furnace runs smoothly and efficiently, maximizing its lifespan and performance.
After completing the cleaning, the transformation was evident. The blower motor spun freely, and the homeowner could rest easy knowing their furnace was ready to keep their family warm through the winter. The technician left them with reassurance, emphasizing the importance of regular maintenance.
For Dallas homeowners, the takeaway is clear: don’t wait until your furnace shows signs of struggle. Schedule your fall tune-up today with Medley Heating, Air Conditioning & Plumbing to ensure your system is in top shape for the cold months ahead. Regular maintenance isn’t just an option; it’s a necessity for a comfortable home.
Now I'm just kind of looking in here at the blower motor, feeling to see if it spins freely and doesn't have a lot of play in it, seeing if it looks real dirty. It's a little dirty. It could probably stand to be cleaned actually. It's got some pretty heavy build up maybe where some sheet rock work was done or something like that. We'll give them an option for pulling the motor out, deep cleaning it, and putting it back in because if that gets out of hand, the wheel gets heavy, the motor works harder, the equipment doesn't like it. It's not bad yet. It would really be a preventative recommendation, but definitely not a bad idea if they did want to take care of that.
